HAIER PAVILLION

Haier, a brand for TVs, Computers, ACs, etc, was one of the main sponsors of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. As such, they requested an ephemeral pavilion for Chao Yang Park, that could be representative of sustainability while containing exhibition, VIP areas and other for promotion of the brand itself.
Aiming for a sustainable structure, and facing Beijing’s pollution and material waste situation, the project re-uses Water Gallons, daily used by millions of people, recycling them for creating skin/structure of the building itself. Through a weaving locking system in-between the gallons, it’s created a self-loading sustainable structure that varies according the morphology of the overall shape.
